FRENCH CATHOLIC LETTER LIVING ROSARY FOUNDER 1839
FRENCH CATHOLIC LETTER FOUNDRESS OF LIVING ROSARY, 1839. Comprising a hand-written letter by the French laywoman, and founder of the Society of the Propagation of the Faith and the Living Rosary Association, Pauline Marie Jaricot (1799-1862). The letter is simply addressed to a Monseigneur and discusses a Monsieur Duclos (perhaps Abbe Henri-Louis Duclos 1816-1900) a noted French Catholic priest and historian, informing the Monseigneur of M. Duclos's current situation, and need for assistance. She closes the letter as Your most humble Handmaid, dated Lyon, April 18, 1839. Jaricot was a devout Catholic laywoman active in the missions and whose spiritual director for many years was Jean-Marie Vianney. In 1963 Pope John XXIII declared her venerable. On 26 May 2020, Pope Francis authorized the Congregation for the Causes of Saints to promulgate a decree recognizing a miracle attributed to Jaricot's intercession and thereby clearing the path for Jaricot to be beatified. 10 inches x 8 inches (25 x 20.25cm).
