FRENCH LEGION SABRE
probably used by a member of the French Legion. "Viva la legion (Long live the [French] Legion)" engraved on one side of the blade. "vaincre ou mourir (conquer or die)" engraved on flat side of blade. Displayed eagle under cross (engraving very faded) on other side of blade (some crest, possibly Austrian?) More writing under crest, but completely obstructed by patina. Blade heavily patinated, small chips and nicks to blade and blade edge. Brass grip and hilt in fair shape, scratched and patinated.
