Large 8vo (ca. 26 x 16,5 cm.), early 19th-cent. unif. dec. gilt(-lettered) green half-chagrin, marbled edges. – And 2 similar early 19th-cent. French illustrated works, i.a. by M. DE CERVANTES SAAVEDRA (“L’Ingénieux Hidalgo Don Quichotte de la Manche”. Paris, J.-J. Dubochet et Cie, 1845. With num. wood-engr. ills. after Tony Johannot).

Complete set (printed in Paris by “Imprimerie de E. Duverger”) of the collected plays by the French author Molière (=ps. of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, 1622-1673) illustrated by the French artist Tony Johannot (1803-1852) with a preface by the French literary critic Charles Augustin Sainte-Beuve (1804-1869). – A few minor imperfections (bindings sl. rubbed/ worn along extremities, spines sl. discol., inner hinges sl. weakening, a few preliminary text-leaves (incl. frontisp. & title) of vol. I sl. waterstained in upper (blank) corner, partly foxed/ browned), but nevertheless an attractively bound set in good condition.
