FRENCH MARQUETRY AND BRONZE OPEN FRONT MUSIC CABINET, C. 1900, EX ANNA DODGE ESTATE H 47", W 32" Bronze mounts. One drawer, bombe shape sides, marquetry. From the estate of Anna Dodge, Rose Terrace, Grosse pointe Farms.
Condition Report: Starting at the top back panel of the cabinet. The upper area of this panel, just below the bronze ormolu, has been repaired from one end to the other. There are indications of veneer and crack repair in the area. On the left side, there is a visible crack, approx. 2" long. The cabinet top has been glued to the cabinet body, there is glue residue that can be seen at the back and at the rights side. The glue residue is noticeable at the back of the cabinet. But it is not noticeable at the right side unless you are searching the tabletop for flaws. The cabinet top has some small scratches and small gouges due to age and use. The drawer has been repaired at the right front side and has two cracks approx. 1" and 1/2" in size. The upper left compartment has noticeable scratches on the shelf and at the left wall of the interior. The left bottom edge of the shelf has a repair and there is wood filler in this area. Both front legs have been repaired at the front where the apron meets the legs. The right leg also has a small repair at the side. The back leg also has a repair. There are indications of wood filler in these areas. At the sheet music slots, there is a 1" and 1/2" area of veneer missing. There is a 1/4" diameter size piece of marquetry missing at the bottom fight shelf. At the back of the cabinet, by the right leg, there is a triangular-shaped piece of wood that is a replacement and there is glue residue around this piece. The condition issues above are commensurate with age and use and do not affect the integrity of the cabinet. This is a beautiful antique music cabinet. TW 10-12-19
