FRENCH OFFICER'S SABER FOR LIGHT ARTILLERY, HUSSARS, LANCERS, AND CHASSEURS A CHEVAL, C. 1812
Brass hilt with D-knucklebow, quillon ending in ball, 2 side branches to guard and full langets. Leather wrapped grip with 3 strands of twisted brass wire set in the grooves. The single-edged, curved blade 32 1/4 in. (82cm) L x 1 1/8 in. (3.2 cm) W at ricasso with one wide fuller. The blade bears etched panoplies of arms and floral motifs. The spine appear to have had a marking purposely filed off near the ricasso. Good overall condition.
