FRENCH VICTORIAN BED LINEN - Cotton - Early 20th century

I would like to call this bed sheet a "fun sheet" and just could not refuse it from the large linen trousseaux as the embroiderer wanted to do something totally different and has succeeded, but wonder what the owners thought of it at the time as it was always white in those days. Coloured embroidery on the bedlinen at least was certainly not in fashion. The letters E. C. might well have been bought in the late 1800s as they are very embossed applied on to the linen. The open thread work on the border has been very well done an I have never seen this particular variation, but it certainly looks impressive. A wonderful sheet to have.
