FRENCH VICTORIAN BEDLINEN - Linen - Early 20th century

A beautiful linen bedsheet obtained from a regular returning guest from Paris who is now 97 years old. The lady was telling me that as a child she was sleeping under this sheet in her Grandmother's country home in the Aveyron Département. Apparently the bed was decked in this linen and was only used when she came to stay, hence it is still in wonderful condition. It has a rather romantic design with 3 rows of generous jours de venise, a central posy of open cutwork with leaves which is repeated at the sides. The beautiful very fine crochet edging are rings all linked together and wonder whether this could have been made for a wedded couple. The edging continues on the sides also. A very fine linen.
