FRENCH VICTORIAN BEDLINEN - Linen - Late 19th century

This is the 3rd sheet which we obtained from our regular returning French lady guest now 97 years old. A superb bed sheet in linen , Richelieu, with open cutwork and beautifully embroidered. The story goes, that again this bedlinen would be decked in the bedroom of her parents when they visited her grandparents in the Aveyron Département all these years ago. She has never used the sheet herself ,but kept it with fond memories only now to dispose of it and to go to another beautiful home where it will be cherished and loved. What is so exceptional about this bedlinen that it is 2m45 wide which for those days was unique and must have been especially commissioned for the bed. To get the full beauty of it we have photographed it also with a piece of black felt in between. A beautiful piece to possess.
