FRENCH VICTORIAN DAMASK LINEN SERVIETTES (12) - Linen - Early 20th century
A set of 12 wonderful damask linen serviettes. The letters M. S. would have been bought in the early 1900s and carefully sewn on by hand to the linen and afterwards sewn over many times to look like they had been embossed on to the linen. The damask it self is richly woven with edgings of leaves. The insides have garlands intercepted by a posy of flowers, whereas the corners have a larger bouquet of flowers. The initials are sitting in a delicate wreath of flowers. A really exquisite set and particularly to obtain a set of 12 is rare these days. Please study the photos and particularly the damask it self.
