Fan, Fan case - Canton - lacquered bamboo - China - Mid 19th century

Gorgeous Chinese export fan from Canton, from ca. 1850, in the original storage box. The fan is very beautifully hand painted in black ink with various miniature scenes. Between these miniatures are beautiful bands with floral designs. The fan is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The ribbon is missing. Ca. 1850. Measurements: fan has 41 ribs, length 23 cm, width 3 cm (bottom) ; span 43 cm; 67 g. Wooden storage box: black enamel paint - painted lid - sides painted with floral designs; the right side has a label with text. Inside of the lid: upholstered with blue satin fabric, decorated with birds and flowers. The box has an extra glass cover to protect the fan. The box has visible signs of wear: chipped enamel paint at the bottom and around the lock. Measurements: 29 x 8 x 6 cm, 322 g Please view the photos for a detailed description.
