Pencil and watercolor fan design drawing on very thin vellum with image after the Guido Reni (Italy, 1575-1642) original ceiling fresco "The Triumph of Apollo led by the Aurora" from the garden house adjacent to the Palazzo Rosigliosi in Rome, Italy. In this design, the image depicts the chariot flying over a European pastoral landscape and is surrounded by a foliate border, also having hand-drawn pencil markings in the shape of a fan below and painted scroll decoration within the image. With unfinished ornamental design en verso. Float mounted in a shallow giltwood shadowbox to a silk mat. Sight: 10 1/2: H x 21 1/2" W. Framed: 17 1/2" H x 28" W. Continental, late 18th or early 19th Century.
