Date: 19th and 20th c. For export.
Description: a) Bone, thinly cut, open-worked and sequined. Paper and silk with pigments. L.28cm,
w.52cm. Silk box. b) Palm wood (zongzhu). Black-lacquered paper, finely painted with gold
and silver leaf and pigments. Three manufacturer's seals: Shu Lian Ji, Qing, Lian (famous
fan studio in Hangzhou from end of the Qing dynasty to republic). L.30cm, w.52cm. Original
box, inscribed: Elegant fan in old style by Jinrun Tang (fan shop in Shanghai).

Provenance:
-Collection of "The Great Nesbitt" (Sinclair Neil Nesbitt, 1886-1936). Chinese style magician who performed throughout Europe from 1919-1928. Probably acquired from the estate of the magician "Chung Ling Soo" (William E. Robinson, 1861-1918).
-1936 inherited to his son Cecil Ronald Nesbitt (1914-1996), who lived in Spain since 1986.
-1996 inherited to a befriended family.
