Fanizani Akuda, also known as Fanizani, was born in 1932 in Zambia, entered Zimbabwe in 1949, and joined the Tengenenge community in 1967. Full of humour and tenderness, his characters, with their constant smiles and squinting eyes, are often in couples or groups: for Fanizani, family is of paramount importance. Regularly exhibited throughout the world, he has lived in the township of Chitungwiza (population 600,000) , in a suburb of Harare.
