Fannie Bayers (American, c. 1900-1936). Large WPA era oil painting on canvas, a Social Realism genre representation of two women wearing Southern European style costume, including wooden shoes (possibly Tamanco from Portugal, or Zoccoli from Italy), depicted as passengers on a sailing boat, with a shoreline and lighthouse in the distance. Artist signature F BAYERS to lower right of canvas and to verso. Presented in a beautiful decorative Neoclassical gilt frame. Good to fair condition, with two prior restorations to canvas.
