"Fat Lava" Vase with Handle – Roth Keramik (West Germany, Model 107-30, 1970s)

A ceramic vase (pitcher vase with handle), representing a highly sought-after classic example of the "Fat Lava" era and mid-century modernist style in Germany.

The vase was produced by the renowned ceramics manufacturer Roth Keramik in the town of Ebernhahn, West Germany, during the 1970s.

A dramatic, high-contrast design combining a bright, glossy citrus-orange enamel base glaze over which flows a thick, three-dimensional, heavily cratered black Fat Lava overflow glaze, simulating volcanic basalt rock or charcoal.

This model's distinctive design is attributed to the factory's chief designer, Dorothea Roth.

The base of the vase is impressed with the authentic marking, including the inscription W. GERMANY alongside the official model number and height designation: 107-30.

In very good condition: no chips, no cracks, and no repairs.

The three-dimensional lava glaze is entirely intact and retains its full original texture.
