Federal Glazed Carved Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Inlaid Butler's Desk/Bookcase, Thomas Seymour, Boston, c. early 19th century, the upper section with reeded cornice and cupboard doors with gothic glazed arches defined by reeded borders, above veneered and crossbanded panels, the doors opening to adjustable shelves, set on the lower section with ovolo corners above a case of cockbeaded drawers, the uppermost fitted with a desk interior, all flanked by quarter-engaged interrupted reeded columns continuing to vase- and ring-turned tapering feet joining a reeded skirt, ht. 85, overall wd. 45, overall dp. 24 in.
