Very rare Italian edition. First Italian edition. 179 pages + XVII initials + 4 full-page woodcut illustrations + 78 final plates. The state of conservation is good with scattered foxing on some pages. The only flaw is that the upper part of the cover is broken.

Manual and documents left by the German pedagogue Friedrich Froebel, the creator of the 'kindergarten', an institution that also spread to the rest of Europe, a structure in which it was possible to educate children under the age of six. In Germany, kindergartens were closed because they were believed to be based on an atheist and socialist education, then reopened after 1860.
Froebel celebrates the importance of play which allows the child to enter into relationships with objects. The very rich iconographic documentation in the appendix to this volume presents illustrations of constructions that the child can create with spheres, cubes, wooden cylinders, prisms, rings, sticks through a multiplicity of solutions and joints that allow him to develop fantasy and imagination .
