Throughout his career, he crafted a wide range of furniture pieces including dressers, desks, tables, and chairs. Predominantly crafted from teak and rosewood, his designs are renowned for their flexibility, innovation, and clean lines.

Starting his journey in 1948 as a cabinet maker under the mentorship of Kaare Klint, often hailed as the father of modern Danish furniture design, Kristiansen remained faithful to Klint's design principles. Renowned for his superb craftsmanship and innovative, human-centered approach, he consistently produced furniture of exceptional quality.

In 1956, Kristiansen introduced his masterpiece, the #42 chair, also known as the Z-chair, for furniture manufacturer Schou Andersen. This design, distinguished by its striking angles and the characteristic clean lines of Kristiansen's style, instantly garnered widespread acclaim for its outstanding workmanship.
