\r

\r
Oil on canvas, 100 x 114 cm
\r

\r
The pictorial composition depicted here can be attributed due to stylistic and formal features
to a painter from the circle of the Emilian Felice Boselli (Piacenza, 1650 – Parma, 1732)
who was aware of the same research in still life undertaken by Angelo Maria Crivelli,
known as Crivellone (1660 – 1730) and Giovanni Crivelli known as Crivellino.
\r
\r
Felice Boselli (1650-1732)
\r
Felice Boselli was trained in the studio of Michelangelo Nuvolone, the younger brother of the more famous Giuseppe and Carlo.
\r
Boselli was mainly active in his native city and in Parma, where he was a painter at the court of the Sanvitale counts of Fontanellato until 1710.
\r
he also tried his hand at portraits, frescoes and tempera paintings of a religious and mythological nature, we consider Boselli mainly as a painter of still lifes.
\r
In the pictorial genre of still life, his main references were the study and observation of regional and local works depicting genre scenes by painters
as Annibale Carracci and Parmigianino, especially with regard to their figurations.
\r
However, there was no shortage of other references, starting from Angelo Crivelli (known as Crivellone) ,
an animal rights activist specialized in wildlife who was well known during his training period, the painters of the Bergamo school such as Baschenis and Bartolomeo Bettera,
down to Nordic origins, and Neapolitan examples.
\r
As a painter of still lifes, Boselli almost always reproduces game and vegetables, but also fish, crustaceans and people.
\r
A strong influence of that cultural context can be found in this painting: a scene is depicted with dead game,
such as the candid figure of the boy or the various birds, but also alive, such as the chickens that can be seen between the bars.
of the chicken coop.
\r
Also present, although a little hidden, is a human figure, which, like some of Felice Boselli's paintings, is linked to a poor environment;
they are usually farmers, merchants and modest people.
\r
When sold, the (work of art/painting) will be carefully and properly packaged and shipped.
\r
