[ translate ]

Property from a Private Collection, Europe
Kees van Dongen
1877 - 1968
Femme nue assise

signed Van Dongen. (lower right)
oil on canvas laid down on panel
41 by 33cm., 16⅛ by 13in.
Framed: 63.5 by 56cm., 25 by 22in.
Painted circa 1898.

This work will be included in the forthcoming van Dongen Digital Catalogue Raisonné, currently being prepared under the sponsorship of the Wildenstein Plattner Institute, Inc.

Condition Report:
Painted on canvas laid down on board. Inspection under UV light reveals a few very small spots of retouching to parts of the extreme edges. There are a few artist's pinholes to the lower corners and to the centre of the left and right edges. There are also artist's pinholes to the upper corners of the canvas but this part of the canvas has been folded over onto the reverse of the board so is not visible. The board is very slightly bowed and there are a few fine lines of craquelure in places. There is some minor paint abrasion to one of the horizontal rungs of the stool and some minor wear to parts of the extreme edges. This work is in overall good condition.

Provenance:
