It bears the inscriptions 'Falconet' and 'F. Barbedienne Fondeur'.

This statue was cast after the example of Etienne Falconet (1716-1791) by the famous French foundry Ferdinand Barbedienne in Paris, around 1900. The original statue in marble is in the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

A similar sculpture is depicted in Harold Berman, Bronzes sculptors & Founders 1800-1930, pg. 1065, fig. 4225.
