Ferdinand Berthoud

Born in Neuchatel in 1727. In 1745 he went to Paris, where he worked primarily with Julien Le Roy. Berthoud also became a purveyor to the court of King Louis XV. and his grandson and successor Louis XVI. ordered.

Wonderful verge watch in a multicolor gold case (at least 18K) with exceptional gold relief work engravings and enamel and emerald trim on the back.

Enamel dial with Roman numerals and external minute track. with Arabic 5 numbers in front. Steel hands with circle inlay - blued and refined with diamond diamonds. Elevator at number two. Dial damaged by elevator otherwise very nice condition. Signed F. d Berthoud and above the six A PARIS

Magnificent bezel refined with enamel

The finest back shows a blue flower with white stones in a central medallion - this is framed with green leaves made of emerald chips. After a gold ring, a ring made of red enamel. In another engraved gold ring there is a decorative circle with flowers and green leaves made of enamel. Great condition. A masterful jeweler's work.

Classic verge movement. Beautifully crafted. Spindle bridge in floral design. Signed Fd Berthoud a Paris.

As a collector's item, the running accuracy and running time have not been tested.

Watch diameter 38mm height with pedant 58mm. Weight 40. 4g
