\Artist: Ferdinando Morozzi (Siena, 1723 - Firenze, 1785)
Technique: Watercolor on paper\Signature: Hand signed\Dimensions: 34. 5_45_2_cm
Ferdinando Morozzi (Siena, 1723 - Florence, 1785) , Geography with Cardinal Signs, watercolor on paper, dimensions 19 x 25. 5 cm, dimensions including the frame 34. 5 x 45 cm, signed on the right. On the back appears an unpublished love literary text written by hand. Proposed without reserve price. Very rare and interesting map painted by one of the most important cartographers in the history of the eighteenth century. It is a frieze created to complete a geographical map, which represents the scale of reduction of proportions: in practice, the legend with the unit of measurement is transformed into a painting with the personification of Geography, assisted by two cherubs representing the north and south cardinal points. The Geography holds in his hand a line that represents the basic unit of measurement of the map, while a cartouche held by one of the cherubs indicates the scale: "Scala di CX Florentine arms on the ground". This very interesting work is the direct testimony of the evolution of cartography and geography in the century of the Enlightenment and of the great explorations. Rare work of great interest for collecting, not only for art. Very good state of conservation. Some deterioration and damage to the card, especially in the perimeter area. A tear at the top and bottom right. Some signs of oxidation spread on the surface. In a 20th century frame, with glass. Work with Certificate of Authenticity and Legitimate Origin. The work is shipped by express courier 24/48 hours with INSURANCE. We inform you that in case of SALE ABROAD the shipment can be made only AFTER HAVING OBTAINED THE EXPORT AUTHORIZATION OF THE MINISTRY OF CULTURAL HERITAGE (Certificate of Free Movement of Fine Arts) . This practice generally involves a WAIT of about 20 days. At present, due to the measures to contain the Covid 19 epidemic, waiting times could be longer.
