Signed and dated. With stamp on the back.
Measurements: 98 x 89 cm; 127 x 105 cm (frame).
In this canvas the author presents us a still life of clear baroque influence, however, characterized by the capture of a clearly contemporary atmosphere. The composition has its roots in the Spanish Baroque, with the elements that make up the still life placed against a landscape background. The empty wicker basket has been strategically placed on an embroidered tablecloth. In the background, González Camacho presents a rocky landscape. Other typical features of the traditional Spanish still life, which the author of this canvas masters with mastery, are the careful study of light, which creates sharp hallmarks to enhance the volume of the various elements and the care of the qualities of the different fruits and objects.
Fernando González began his career as an artist at a very young age, when he obtained a scholarship to study at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungría. It will be from the sixties when González Camacho begins to exhibit in individual and collective exhibitions. In 1976 he will present for the first time his individual exhibition, moment in which his popularity increases and he begins to present his work in Spanish and European galleries. His works are characterized by a refined style, the result of a neat drawing and fine line, to which is added the use of subtle tones and a balanced composition. Gonzalez Camacho is known for his exquisite obtaining at the time of making tablecloths and lace in his still lifes and genre scenes.
