The 360 Modena appeared in 1999 as a successor of the 355 and was the first Ferrari to be fully developed under the leadership of Luca di Montezemolo. He ensured that it became a much better car, it was tested in the wind tunnel for more than 5,000 hours in order to improve the aerodynamics of the 360 Modena. The smooth lines disguise the fact the Ferrari 360 is much larger than the 355, yet the car became lighter than its predecessor. The 360 Modena uses an aluminium space frame that was not only 40 percent lighter than the steel chassis of the 355, but also 30 percent stiffer. The engine upgrade included variable valve timing associated with the enlarged valves. The V8 (Tipo F131B) also increased to 3586 cc (3. 6 litres) and power increased to a healthy 394 hp.
