The Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer was not only a new model, above all, it was the very first Ferrari ever with a twelve-cylinder flat centre engine. And it didn't just arrive. Enzo Ferrari feared for a long time that such a set-up would be a little difficult to handle for his clientele. After years of developing, designing and applying flat engines in racing, Enzo decided that the time was right to offer his buyers a model with a flat-12 in the middle. An engine that was, at that time, radically different from all other Ferrari engines intended for use on public roads. The first Berlinetta Boxer was the 365 GT4 BB, which was built from 1973 to 1976. The Bosch K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection 512 BBi introduced in 1981 was the last of the series. The injection engine produced cleaner emissions and provided a better balance between performance and driving characteristics. Only 1,007 512 BBi models were produced. This Ferrari is in a very neat condition. The car starts immediately, shifts smoothly and vigorously through all the gears, idles nicely and brakes properly. The engine compartment also looks very fresh and maintained. The car also had a maintenance service whereby the oil, spark plugs and filters were replaced (December 2019) .
