African Dagari wood ancestor from Burkina Faso. The Dagari are a tribal group that live near the Lobi, on the border with Ghana and Burkina Faso. These kind of figures, were placed on a family altar or a shrine (Thilda) and represents a deceased family member. The surface is encrusted, and has insect damage.
