A medical figure, called 'mu'po', from the west of the Cameroon grasslands. Wooden mupo figure of the Bamileke. Mu'po figures are used by healers and soothsayers to heal the sick, but also for medicinal purposes. You can recognise them by their big round head. The figure was carved from dark wood and covered with a layer of black paint. Their eyes are small and round. The large open mouth shows white coloured rows of teeth. The figure has a crusty patina in places, and pronounced rubbing of the colour, a bit has broken off the back of the left foot due to insect damage.
