Figure carving, Geschnitzte antike Madonna mit Kind - 62 cm - Wood
The figure comes from an estate. It was in the family for several generations. It was probably made in the Alpine region around the beginning to middle of the last century.
I'm not a great art connoisseur, but I would classify the figure as being in a Gothic style, which is often found in churches. The crown is certainly typical.
The figure is carved from wood and painted. It is about 62 cm high. It is very detailed. I think the folds of the cloak are particularly well done. The figure has normal signs of wear and tear consistent with its age, but no major damage.
