Filiberto Petiti (1845–1924) - Campagna Romana - NO RESERVE

[ translate ]

Important painting by

Filiberto Petiti (Turin, 14 November 1845 – Rome, 26 July 1924)

“Roman countryside”

Large oil on panel from 1921 - signed on the front and back

Painting placed in a precious guilloché frame measuring 125 x 95 cm (panel 100 x 70 cm)

A pupil of Felice Cerruti Bauduc, he approached the poetics of the Rivara School, developing an intensely lyrical typology of interpretation of nature, derived from modules of Barbizonnière ancestry, deepened during his stay in Florence in the years 1867-1874, in contact with the Macchiaioli. Having moved to Rome in 1875, he continued to punctuate his production with the inspiration of a melancholic "poetry of truth". As our painting demonstrates, the feeling of truth that characterizes the artist remains anchored to the moving and poignant resonance, imbued with romanticism, of the Rivara School.
