Carved in shallow relief and painted on one side with pheasants, quail, ducks and songbirds, all engaged in feeding, fighting and flying around a pond flanked by flowering branches, all on a gold field and surrounded by scroll, ruyi head, berry and foliate borders, the reverse depicting a large crane in a stream under a maple tree, surrounded by numerous songbirds.
