Fine French Sevres Style Hand Painted Porcelain & Ormolu Mounted Centerpiece Urn
An exceptional 19th century French Sevres style cobalt blue porcelain centerpiece urn (coupe), richly embellished with fine gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts and retaining a Christie's auction label on the underside. The deep bleu de roi ground is accented with intricate gilt scrollwork and jeweled enameling, featuring a hand painted romantic pastoral scene on one side and a lush bouquet of summer flowers on the reverse. The interior of the bowl is decorated with a delicate central floral bouquet encircled by a ribbon tied floral garland ring. The piece is finished with ornate ormolu mounts, including an openwork beaded rim, high relief scroll handles draped with laurel wreaths, a spiraled pedestal stem, and a molded plinth base with bracket feet
Measure 13 3/4"in H x 14 1/4"in W x 11 1/2"in D
Condition: Overall very good antique condition. The porcelain body is intact with bright gilding and enamel work, showing light rubbing to the gilt highlights consistent with age. Hand-painted reserves remain vibrant and free of major paint loss. The gilt-bronze mounts display a rich patina with minor oxidation and surface tarnish in recessed areas. Mounts are securely attached; the underside retains an original Christie's auction label.
Provenance: Retains an auction lot label from Christie's on the underside.
