Fine Greek Mycenaean Bi-Chrome Pottery Bowl

Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, Middle Helladic II to Late Helladic II, ca. 1900 to 1400 BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery bowl with tall walls that taper to a smaller circular base, a deep basin, and a thick rim. Applied espresso-hued pigment adorns much of the cream-slipped vessel with bars of frets around the top of the rim, a pair of stripes above a solid brown surface within the basin, and two sets of five horizontal stripes enclosing a register of zigzags. Size: 6.4" W x 3.55" H (16.3 cm x 9 cm).

Provenance: ex-William Froelich collection, New York, USA, acquired in the 1970s
