Fine Group of Early Snuff Boxes
A group of 5 snuff boxes, all 19th century or late 18th century, including: a silver plated and engraved Civil War era box, with equestrian scene, marked C. Parker. A 19th century gutta percha box with hunt scene painted to lid. A fine bird's eye maple gentleman's snuff box with silverplated interior, and an embedded miniature of a gentleman in oil. Another early 19th century tin box in oval form, with gilt painted inscription "Success to the Land that we Live in". Finally a Continental snuff box with transfer engraved scene.
Largest is 3.25" diameter.
Condition Report: All with wear from use, and wear to paint. Miniature portrait example with two age splits to the lid.
