[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $300**

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi Province, Manabi culture, ca. 500 CE. A hand-built terracotta figurine with dark hues of red portraying a highly decorated seated musician playing a sizeable ocarina. The nude figure is accessorized in multiple circular earrings and bears a feathered wristband on his left hand. His right hand is highly detailed - showing the intricacies of hand and finger placement while playing the instrument. His face is comprised of a bulbous nose, a slightly parted mouth opening, and a pair of applied ovoid-form eyes. His head is an elaborate arrangement of small closely marked incision that build up a linear motif which could be both a traditional kind of headwear or a braid-form hairstyle.
