Fine Western Asiatic Dagestan Bronze Nude Male Adorant

Ancient Western Asia, northwestern shores of the Caspian Sea, Dagestan region, ca. 8th to 6th century BCE. A lovely example of a hollow-cast bronze male adorant figure presenting nude with an exposed phallus while standing atop delineated legs. Covered in thick layers of brown and green patina, the figure holds lengthy arms out to his sides, each hand with outstretched fingers and thumbs stretching towards and conjoining to the side of the head and upper neck. The petite head bears large eyes, a prominent nose, full lips above a protruding chin, and a backswept coiffure that culminates in a rectangular knob along the verso. Size: 1.7" W x 2.25" H (4.3 cm x 5.7 cm); 2.625" H (6.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition Report: Possible repair and restoration to proper left thumb and area where it meets the head, but expertly done if present. Small losses to tips of fingers on proper left hand as shown, and petite perforation to side of calf on proper right leg. Minor abrasions and encrustations commensurate with age, with softening to some finer details particularly on face, and very slight bending to overall form of arms and body. Great patina throughout.
