First Year Production Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle in 38-40 W.C.F. Caliber
Made by Winchester Repeating Arms according to serial number in 1892. Gun has 24" blued Winchester marked octagon barrel with sheared front sight and 22 G rear sight and standard address and "Model 1892" tang markings with "38 W.C.F." caliber marking. Barrel has standard 6 groove rifling. Correct blued solid frame receiver with blued full tubular magazine. Correct serrated casehardened hammer and lever and smooth plain trigger. Walnut plain standard stock with casehardened crescent steel buttplate, blued Nose cap and No sling swivels. LOP: 12-3/4". CALIBER/GA: 38-40. S/N: 21036. FFL: Antique.
Condition
90% original barrel blue fading to a brown patina with light oxidation. Frame has some underlying pits with some cold blue applied. 80% original varnish with dark patches and some dings and bruises. Frosted bore with visible lands and grooves with strong mechanics.
