[ translate ]

Splendid, rare and antique set of 6 white porcelain lunch/dinner plates, Fischer & Mieg. (Pirkenhammer) Czechoslovakia 1853 - 1873

A white porcelain of great finesse, slightly animated, sublimated by a rich floral decoration and double 24K pure gold inlay in relief with a light and splendid frame.
The service was created around 1860 for a Czechoslovakian prince, it bears the family monogram on the entire service, it represents the Empire style, with its frieze and symmetrical design.

Pirkenhammer is a porcelain factory founded in 1803 by Friedrich Holke and Johann Gotlob List. The crossed hammers mark is the symbol of the Pirkenhammer hammer.

The factory was located in a Bohemian village of Pirkenhammer (Czech Brezova) near Karlovy Vary, also known as Karlsbad. Until 1811 it functioned as the Friedrich Höcke factory. In 1811 the new owners Johann Martin Fischer and Christopher Reichenbach renamed it Fischer & Reichenbach. Martin Fischer was a trader, while Reichenbach was the company's technical director.

Martin Fischer died in 1824. His widow Sophie Friederike began managing the company. In 1931, management of the factory passed to Martin Fischer's son, Christian. The company was awarded a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition in Vienna in 1839.

In 1852 Christian's daughter Wilhelmine married her cousin Ludwig von Mieg. The company was now Fischer & Mieg. The artist André Carriére began to influence Pirkenhammer's style from 1868 when he became chief designer and the company invested in a studio for him in Paris in 1874. He worked for the company until the beginning of the 20th century. Next owners from 1908
they were Wilhelm & Viktor Maier. In 1918, the factory was incorporated into the "Epiag" group.

In excellent condition being a service with more than 170 years, wear of the gold. In my profile, you will find the entire complete service. Each plate bears the F&M brand engraved in the porcelain.
