An alumnus of the Columbus College of Art & Design, abstract artist Todd Camp translates fleeting, unscripted moments of the everyday into vibrant, layered topographies. Best known for his evocative Cloudscapes & Pathways series, Camp’s practice captures the atmospheric dialogue between open skies and the graphic vernacular of the asphalt below, fueled by the kinetic energy of his daily Central Ohio commute.
Eschewing conventional boundaries, Camp creates a tactile collision of traditional and industrial mediums in his work. He creates depth by layering acrylic, latex, spray paint, and mastic, accented with bold lines of china marker, and uses a squeegee to release raw, intuitive energy across the canvas.
A vital force in the region’s arts community, Camp also serves as the Assistant Arts Administrator at the Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center. His philosophical, risk-taking approach to abstraction has earned him international accolades, with institutional and corporate commissions from around the world, including an executive piece officially gifted to the Mayor of Dresden, Germany.
