Fletcher Martin Young Maiden Portrait Painting

Impressionist depiction of a young woman in pink daintily sniffing a flower. Martin was a self taught artist, assisting Mexican artist David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974) with a mural for a post office in Kellogg, Idaho. His works can be found at the Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Library of Congress among many others.

Signature: Signed and dated "Fletcher Martin 1942" lower right corner.
Condition: Toning, few paint chips to top of head, small hole to upper right corner, losses to frame, otherwise good condition. Please refer to photographs.
