Fluorite, Sphalerite, Calcite Rosiclare Level, Minerva No. 1 Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-In-Rock Mining Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA 16.8 x 10.8 x 7.1 cm (6.61 x 4.25 x 2.8 in) Across the surface of this piece are beautiful, purple cubes of Fluorite so rich in color they almost appear black, making for a stunning display with backlighting; underneath this layer is an interior of yellow Fluorite, which was likely exposed from the dissolution of once-present Baryte. The center of the specimen is covered with small, grey Calcite scalenohedrons and Sphalerite. There are a few crevices across the specimen that host minor crystal growths, which likely formed from geological movement. Ex. Paul Eglsaer collection.
