Fluorite on Sphalerite Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee,...
Fluorite on Sphalerite Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County, Tennessee, USA 9.0 x 6.0 x 5.2 cm (3.54 x 2.36 x 2.05 in) This beautiful combination specimen nicely presents a sharp Fluorite cube, reaching 5.1 centimeters, atop a lustrous Sphalerite matrix. Characteristic of the famous Elmwood Mine, the Fluorite in this piece is transparent with a near colorless interior that is outlined by purple zoning along the edges; each crystal face is covered with minor but pronounced surface textures and stepped growths. The Sphalerite matrix has a rich root beer color that contrasts the Fluorite, especially with any backlighting. The flat underside of this specimen allows for better presentation, without the need for a base. HID09710052018 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
