Folk Art Watercolor Family Portrait with Harvest
An exceptional folk art watercolor on paper, early 19th century, and likely Midwestern. Depicting a group of four, including a woman, pair of children, and an angel with arrow. Possibly a memorial example, although lacking those signs. A growth of roses dominates the center, with a pair of cornucopia spilling fruits, a pair of trees flank the figures. Faces are distinctly naive, with a hint of gouache highlights.
15" x 20" (sight)and 18.77" ht. x 24.25" wd.(frame)./p>
A selection from the estate of the late Charles Cotterill, avid collector and former mayor of Maysville, KY.
Condition Report: Toned throughout, a few creases and losses.
