Note: The present work is evocative of the classical Baroque imagery that dominated the artistic scene in Italy during the 17th Century. The sitter's costume and style of hair conform to the ideals of the classical female form that many artists strived to convey throughout the Renaissance. The artist's subtle use of sfumato is reminiscent of Furini's portraits, particularly his self portrait held by the Uffizi Gallery.
