Follower of Pieter Nason
Anonymous, follower of Pieter Nason, possibly portrait of Johan Maurits, nicknamed the Brazilian. Maurits was count and prince of the German Nassau-Siegen, at the end of the Dutch Revolt field marshal in Dutch service and governor-general of Dutch Brazil. After his return from Brazil, he moved to the Mauritshuis in The Hague. He may have been depicted with the Danish knighthood, the order of the elephant. Panel early 19th century, 55x41 cm
