Beautiful antique bronze bust after a Renaissance statue of Dante, opening in the hood. Powerful portrait bust of Dante Alighieri. The sculpture is a 19th century 'Grand Tour' Italian carving of superior quality and not a later replica, the bronze is very finely cast without seams (cire-perdue) , a lot of detail, old weathered patina. Signed: G. Sommer Napoli (G. Sommer Frankfurt 1834-Napoli 1914) .
