Ford - Taunus 1600 GXL - 1971

While most classic Fords have unfortunately fallen prey to tuning, wide rims and a sports exhaust, this Taunus still has the same appearance as when it was delivered in the Netherlands in 1971, now 53 years ago. The car was acquired from an inheritance 13 years ago and was then in the same condition as it is today. In the last 13 years, it has only been driven 1000 km and the car has always been under a protective cover in a heated garage.
According to the owner, the car was repainted about 30 years ago for cosmetic reasons. Now the body is still nice and shiny. Some spots have been touched up with a brush over the years, which can be seen in the photos, but the bodywork is exceptionally well preserved. The chrome of the bumpers and all stainless steel finishing strips are also beautiful.
Everything under the hood is also very neat. Clearly a car that has received a lot of love. The engine was fitted with a new battery, a new water pump and timing belt last year. A new exhaust has also been installed. We hear the valves ticking slightly, so they can be adjusted again. The engine starts immediately and runs well and powerfully. Shifting, braking and lighting are all problem-free and the car can drive any desired distance without any problems. All instruments and switches on the dashboard also work. The Michelin tires still have enough tread but are at least 13 years old.
The first series, such as this TC1, are the most sought after among enthusiasts. These were also the cars with the most beautiful dashboard, the Rostyle rims and the striking grill. Certainly the most complete but rare GXL models are now popular at events or in a private collection.
The original instruction booklet is with the car and there are 2 keys.
