Ford USA - Mustang fastback - 1965

Up for auction is this 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. With the 200 ci I-6 (3. 3L 6-cylinder in line) engine linked to the original C4 automatic transmission. The Mustang was restored some years ago (2016) . The '65 Mustang has the original and unique colour Poppy Red. The year 1965 was also the only year the Mustang was supplied in this colour and a Mustang Fastback in this colour is especially rare. The Mustang is in very good technical condition. Cosmetically it does require some work. Some rust is starting to show on the doors and there’s a crack in the paint on the rear panel next to the taillight. The bottom is rust-free. Unfortunately I do not have the time to give his Mustang the love that it deserves but with a little effort it can be used (on a daily basis) again. This Mustang was imported from America to England and was registered there. The Mustang still has the English registration but can easily be transferred to a Dutch one (classic vehicle with blue license plates) . The history of this Mustang: The Mustang was inherited by a family member in 1987 and has since stood in a (covered) garage. Due to lack of time to restore it, he sold it in 2015. Because the car was complete and fully original, this was the ideal restoration project. What was done as part of the restoration:
- Original '65 200CI 6-cylinder in-line engine- Original '65 C4 automatic transmission- 4x new brake drums and its components- New torsion bars front & rear ('65 Mustangs originally did not have torsion bars, they were added for safety) - New Dynacorn driver and passenger doors (new version with more support for safety and strength) - 2 additional struts mounted for more torsional stiffness of the chassis. The engine:
- No leakage!
- Original 1965 6-cylinder that runs great.
- 1BBL carburetor completely reconstructed and works superb.
- New fuel pump with new stainless steel fuel lines and fuel filter.
- Equipped with 10W30 Royal Purple oil.
- Complete new exhaust system including mounting brackets. Only the manifolds were not replaced, these were still fine.
- New alternator & voltage regulator.
- Revised water pump.
- New battery with new Scott Drake battery clamps.
- Original radiator in which all hoses have been replaced by FOMOCO hoses.
- New fuel tank, float, gaskets and connection.
- Automatic transmission revised, the lid chrome-plated and the gaskets all renewed. Brakes & tyres:
- New stainless steel brake lines and new brake hoses (front) .
- New main brake cylinder (not powered) .
- New brake light switch for the brake lights.
- New brake shoes, springs and adjustment (both front and rear) .
- New front brake cylinders (the rear ones have not been replaced as they were still in excellent condition) .
- New handbrake cables and all associated parts of the handbrake system.
- 4 new tyres.
- Original rims with original hubcaps. Interior: New driver and passenger seat including new leather upholstery and padding.
- New rear seat including leather upholstery and padding.
- New steering walnut wheel including horn (also new horns mounted) .
- New seat conductors for driver & passenger.
- New (custom made) Auto. Sound radio with aux connector.
- Nieuwe Scott Drake 8 inch Shorty aerial.
- New upholstery across the entire floor.
- New sill frames.
- New door panels.
- New dashboard top.
- New headlining.
- New rear-view mirror, outside mirrors and sun visors.
- New heater housing and tubes.
- New lighting switch.
- New pedals with chrome housing. The body:
- New front for the headlights.
- New rear panel for rear lighting (which is not correct for a 6-cylinder but allowed for reversing lights to be added for safety) I’ve probably forget to mention one or two things but this is simply an amazing car worth a viewing and it will most likely increase in value in the coming period.
