Ford USA - Thunderbird - 1955

Very nice 1955 Ford Thunderbird, the first model year for the Thunderbird, with an original 292 (4. 8L) V8. This is an older restoration, the Thunderbird looks very nice apart for some paint damage. The engine was overhauled 9 years ago, it has been driven very little since. An invoice for this is available! The overhauled engine has a manual 3-speed gearbox with overdrive. This version is very rare because 90% of all Thunderbirds sold in 1955 were equipped with an automatic gearbox. The remaining 10% were therefore manual, with or without overdrive! Ford sold more than 14,000 Thunderbirds in total in 1955, which means that only 1,400 had a manual gearbox. Divide this by 2 for the number of cars with overdrive; that makes this car a very rare version! In addition to the rare gearbox, this Thunderbird also has an automatic adjustable bench, however it is not connected and therefore not working at the moment. The Thunderbird starts, drives and brakes well and it technically looks fine. The interior has been reupholstered during the restoration and is still in mint condition. The bottom of the car is very hard and has a minor layer of superficial rust, it’s easy to treat. The Thunderbird has a soft-top and a hardtop! The hardtop was resprayed last month due to damage and looks all neat again. This hardtop has no portholes or continental kit, as it should be on a 1955 model, they weren’t introduced until 1956.
