Jean-Baptiste Lebas (French, 1729-after 1795), circa 1755
The crestrail carved with roses above a padded cartouche-form backrest; the undulating scrolled arms with manchettes above U-form padded seat and serpentine seatrail further carved with roses; the whole raised on four cabriole legs with shell-carved knees; two chairs stamped "I. LEBAS" and all chairs with multiple small crescent inventory stamps likely those of the Château de Chanteloup and with applied inventory number tabs. (4).
